Wedding Prep

wedding cake flowers
Hi there folks! It sure has been a while hasn't it! If you didn't already know, the reason for my disappearance from Blog land is because I have been off planning a wedding and getting married!

I have so much to fill you in on, but I thought I would start by travelling back in time a few months and showing you some of the prep we did for the wedding. If you'd like to see my earlier wedding posts, you can find them here

Right from the beginning we knew that this wedding was going to be 99% DIO (Do it ourselves). Luckily we had help from our amazingly talented parents, and lots of our friends and family pitched in too. It was an incredible amount of work, and we all went a little loopy at times but we finally pulled it off! So before you get to see photos from the day itself, here are some pics I took along the way.

The picture above is of some of the flowers my mum made for the cake, it was gorgeous!
DIY wedding invites
I designed and hand made all the invites, it gave me an excuse to watch a lot of TV while I was doing it!
Mint wedding inviteDIY confetti cone
We made little confetti cones and my mum, her neighbours and my granny all collected petals and dried them out.

wedding gift tote bag
I made tote bags as gifts for the MOB (mother of the bride) and MOG (mother of the groom), and little make up bags for my bridesmaids.

succulents
My Mum purchased many varieties of succulent in the search for the perfect ones to adorn our bouquets and the boys button holes.

Instead of a traditional wedding breakfast, we opted for a picnic! Each table had one of these crates full of yummy food!

We made our own elderflower cordial for our special toasting drink instead of champagne.

Many signs were painted to direct our guests to the right places! Fortunately Chris's mum runs a furniture painting class, so we had all the supplies we needed as well as an expert teacher!
wedding signs
I was so excited about my guest book, so I made this sign out of cardboard and yarn.  Unfortunately this was one of the things that fell by the wayside on the day and I totally forgot about it! Oh well, it wouldn't have fitted on the table anyway!

This is really just a snippet of everything that was done, just the things I actually remembered to photograph along the way! I can't wait to show you some of the photos of the day itself!

It's good to be back! Are any of you planning a wedding?

    1. Sophie - you totally stole my comment! Teehee :) Welcome back Laura; it looks like your wedding was a really amazing day!

Maybe you can use your Guest Book letters to spell out something else in your home? You could hold a Boggle competition for people to come up with the best re-jigged words? Like boost (by the X box?), or stoke (above the fireplace?). xxx

  4. Everything's amazing! You're so lucky you have people to help you. I'd love to do DIY though he doesn't want it to be a craft fair. :P
